Susuz Mountains Antalya

Susuz Mountains rise up to 2,400 meters, forming an impressive extension of the Taurus Mountains. Stretching eastward to Lake Avlan and westward to Kıbrıs Stream, these mountains derive their name largely from their arid nature. While rainwater accumulates in certain basins at higher elevations, it eventually evaporates over time. As a result, vegetation is quite sparse, consisting mostly of short shrubs and resilient grasses that thrive in the region.

Despite its dry nature, Susuz Mountains are home to various plant and animal species. While pine and cedar trees are more prominent in the lower areas, vegetation becomes sparser as one ascends towards the peaks. Wild goats, eagles, and foxes are among the wildlife species inhabiting the area.

The best times to explore Susuz Mountains are spring and autumn. The summer months can be extremely hot, whereas winter brings snowfall and freezing conditions near the peaks. If you plan on camping, it is advisable to be well-prepared.

Address: To reach this region, you can start from Kaş or Elmalı districts and follow the roads around Lake Avlan to access the mountainous area.
