Cirali Yanartas Antalya

Located at an altitude of 230 meters on the hill of Çıralı, approximately 35 km from Antalya's Kemer district, Yanartaş, also known as "The Eternal Flames of Olympos," is a natural wonder where nature and mythology intertwine. Yanartaş is a natural source of fire caused by the emission of underground gases, which have been burning for centuries. The flames emerging from the rocks create a mesmerizing view due to the continuous release of gas from underground and its interaction with the air.

Yanartaş holds historical and mythological significance. According to Greek mythology, it is believed to be the dwelling place of Chimera, a legendary creature. The Chimera is described as a fearsome monster with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail that once threatened the region. According to the myth, the hero Bellerophon, riding the winged horse Pegasus, defeated the Chimera and imprisoned it deep within the earth. Even today, the continuing flames are believed to be the monster’s breath. Visiting Yanartaş is not only witnessing a natural phenomenon but also experiencing the mystical atmosphere of ancient mythology.

The ancient ruins and historical sites surrounding Yanartaş contribute to Antalya's rich cultural heritage. A visit to this site offers both a natural and cultural experience, with its mystical ambiance evoking a sense of ancient times.

Reaching Yanartaş usually involves a scenic hike, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature and discover the area's unique beauty. Surrounded by lush forests and breathtaking landscapes, hiking in the region provides an escape from the modern world into a peaceful natural retreat.

Yanartaş is as stunning at night as it is during the day. The glowing flames under the dark sky create a mesmerizing view. Watching the flames flicker under the moonlight and stars is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.
