Melanippe Ancient City Antalya

Melanippe takes its name from a character in Ancient Greek mythology. According to legend, Melanippe is mentioned either as an Amazon woman or a lover of Poseidon. This mysterious origin adds a mystical atmosphere to the ancient city. Although its history is not entirely clear, it is believed to belong to the Lycian civilization and dates back to around the 4th century BC.

The most striking feature of Melanippe Ancient City is its direct location on the Mediterranean coast. Some of the ancient ruins are so close they almost touch the sea. These structures, nestled within nature and blended with the sea, offer visitors a visually and emotionally captivating atmosphere.

While large buildings of the city have not survived to the present day, some foundational remains, traces of walls, and building stones can still be seen. The true charm, however, lies in the serene cove surrounded by ancient ruins... You can take a swim here and enjoy a peaceful break in nature.
