The ancient city of Myra, located in the Demre district of Antalya, is considered one of the most important cities of the Lycian civilization. It has held great significance throughout history due to its rock tombs, theater, and connection to Saint Nicholas. Myra was one of the six major cities of the Lycian League and experienced significant development, particularly during the Roman and Byzantine periods.

Among the most striking structures in the ancient city are the rock tombs and the Roman theater. Lycian rock tombs, carved into the cliffs in a palace-like design, create a breathtaking view. These tombs reflect the Lycian people's beliefs about the afterlife. The ancient theater is remarkably well-preserved and is considered one of the largest theaters in Lycia in terms of capacity.

Myra is not only famous for its ancient ruins but also for its connection to Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus). Saint Nicholas, an important figure in Christianity, was the bishop of Myra. Today, the Church of Saint Nicholas, located in Demre, was built in his memory and is an important religious site that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
