Tilkiler Cave Antalya
Tilkiler Cave, located in the Manavgat district of Antalya, is Turkey’s third-longest cave, stretching approximately 6,650 meters. Discovered in 1976 during the Oymapınar Dam drilling surveys, the cave stands out for both its natural formation and geological features.
Tilkiler Cave is 6,650 meters long and 159 meters deep. Part of the cave consists of limestone, while another part is made up of conglomerate rocks (formed by the combination of gravel and sand). This composition makes the cave valuable for scientific research.
During spring, the melting snow causes the water level in the cave to rise, filling some sections with water. For this reason, the best time to visit is during the summer months, when water levels are lower.
Inside the cave, there is a chamber known as the "Castles Hall", where the floor is completely covered with sand. In 1977, French speleologists built sand castles in this hall, and surprisingly, they have remained intact over the years.
