Yivli Minaret Mosque is located in the Kaleiçi district and is considered one of the most beautiful historical landmarks of the city. The minaret was built in the 13th century during the reign of Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I. Its base is made of cut stone, while the body is decorated with bricks and turquoise-colored tiles. The minaret stands out with its eight fluted structure, which is why it is called "Yivli," meaning "fluted" in Turkish. It has a height of 38 meters and can be accessed via a 90-step staircase.

Next to the minaret stands the Yivli Minaret Mosque, which originally served as a Byzantine church before being converted into a mosque with the addition of the minaret. This mosque is one of the earliest examples of multi-column domed mosques in Anatolia.

The structure was first restored in 1373 by Yunus son of Mahmud son of Mübarizeddin Mehmed. During the Republican era, it underwent several restorations in 1935, 1942-1943, 1953, and 1964. In 1972, a fire in the mosque complex damaged the northern and southern parts, as well as the tile decorations. Consequently, extensive restoration work was carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1973 and again in 1977. The most recent renovation took place in 2007, which included surface cleaning and replacement of deteriorated brick and stone coverings.
